Project
  • Create a series of 8th notes; add slurs or ties to some of them.
  • Select them all with Control-A
  • Choose "notes" on the right side to select all the notes
  • Select "stemless"
--> Bug #1 - The flags do not disappear as they should.
  • Unselect "visible" so all the notes go invisible.
--> Bug #2 - The attached flags and slurs and ties do not go invisible. See the resulting PDF of the resulting printed music. The F notes are all voice 1 and visible. The flags and the small slur are on voice 2 notes that are not visible, so they confuse the resulting score.

I use MuseScore for this type of music almost exclusively. I am writing violin music for my daughter to use in the church band. The lyrics help her to find our place in the music since repeats are not always the same, but I do not want to take up sheet space with visible notes for the lyrics. ALL I want on the final printed music is lyrics and her violin music.

This seems to be the expected results from what you are describing. If you want all of a voice to be made invisible, then select all using ctrl-a as you already did, but use the selection filter (displayed using F6) keeping checked only what you want invisible. Once you have the correct items selected press V to make them invisible.

I agree it makes sense that selecting the notes and making them invisible will make all parts of the note invisible. However, problems arise when the 2nd and 3rd notes of a 4 notes group were made invisible. Does the beam stay visible or not? It's one item, not 4.

Slurs are another animal. If including the slurs in the voice does not make them invisible, it's probably because for some reason they are considered to be in voice 1 (which happens for several reasons). You can right click a slur and select all similar items to select them all and press V to make them invisible, but it will toggle any that are already invisible. You may need to use the select>more... and limit to In the same voice.

If you want noteheads, stems, flags, slurs and ties go invisible, select all those and mark as invisible. They are individual elements, and it is elements you turn invisible. So what you described as a bug is by design.

Your steps

  • Select them all with Control-A
  • Choose "notes" on the right side to select all the notes

don't make sense to me.

Stemless is a property of a chord, not of a note
