Wonky key signature when creating new score.

• Oct 6, 2017 - 09:06

I am trying to copy a score that is written for baritone saxophone. When I start the create new score process, I choose the instrument (baritone saxophone) and am then asked what key signature to use (I use two sharps (D)) and then go through the rest of the process to create the score. When the score has been created, I suddenly have five sharps (key of B). I have never run into this error before and it is killing me as I need to copy a score pronto. I am using Musescore appimage 2.1.0 871c8ce with KDE Neon 5.6.8.

Not an error: baritone saxophone is a transposing instrument. You want F Major / d-minor, I guess, one flat. This results in 2 sharps for bari sax

When creating scores or adding key signatures, MuseScore always works in concert pitch. Since Bari Sax is an Eb instrument, you always need to select the key with 3 mores flats or 3 fewer sharps than what the Basi Sax has in its key.
