Multi staff, high notes on staff above intended

• Nov 12, 2017 - 21:13

I never had this issue in earlier versions of MuseScore, but here goes. I've got a multi staff system that I'm writing out various recorder parts for. I'm trying to add a high F to an Alto part which appears under another Staff. I"m not able to write the high F in the lower staff, it will only appear at the bottom of the staff above. See attached lame attempt at music notation in Adobe Acrobat.

Help, please?

At a certain point the neighboring staff will catch the note you're trying to enter with the mouse. so either increase the staff distance or enter the pitch lower and the move up with the cursor keys, or don't use the mouse for note entry.

Without seeing the actual score I can guess.

You are not using Keyboard entry, I suspect you're using the mouse. When you move the mouse to where the note should go, MuseScore decides you have moved to the staff above and placed the note there. There are two ways to get around this. First, use the keyboard. It's faster once you get used to it. Another way is to enter the note an octave lower and raise it up an octave with ctrl+up arrow.
