Crashing issue (Portable Version)

• Dec 23, 2017 - 00:26

I downloaded the Portable Version of Musescore onto my school issued laptop earlier this year and its been wonderful!
Recently though, the program crashes frequently (at least once a day) usually when I add a new instrument into a score. I have an amount of full symphonic/band arrangements on it (so maybe it's due to full storage) but I would just like to know if there might be something else that could be causing this or something that can possibly help fix this.

Thanks to anyone that can help!

There have indeed been some problems found and fixed over the years involving adding instruments to scores in certain corner cases, so do be sure to update to 2.1 if you haven't already. But if you continue to have problems, then in order to say for sure what is going on, we would need you to attach your score and give steps to reproduce the problem.

I don't know if it's related, but for the record, this issue is always active: #85046: Crash when adding/removing an instrument in Continuous view after autosave
The condition: to be in Continuous View

New example:
1) SATB template
2) Toggle in Continuous View
3) Select the first whole rest -> Press "I"
4) Await for Auto-save
5) When the whole rest reverts highlighted -> Add a piano -> Ok
----> Crash

So, @Alex O-G , are you in Continuous View when you add instruments? If yes, the safest way to avoid crashes is to toggle in Page View before adding instruments.
If what you observe is different, indeed, please share your score.
(NB: for recall, Auto-save option is in: Edit -> Preferences -> General)
