Will "Edit Text Styles" be available in the Nightly Build versions?

• Jan 7, 2018 - 08:12

I find the Edit Text Styles feature to be very useful in MuseScore v2.1.0 because it enables me to load custom fonts for many different text types at one time.

I can't find the same feature in the Nightly Build versions. It is not very convenient to select individual fields and change the font of each.

At some point will be you be carrying forward the "Edit Text Styles" function (refer attachment)?

Thanks.

But note, the nightly builds for master are highly experimental, subject to change, and most definitely not intended for any real use. Please do not use these builds for anything more testing purposes, no expect anything in particular of them in terms of functionality. It is still a very long way away from being anything that will be released, and scores created with these builds will almost certainly not be usable with future builds.

That said - yes, it is true that the old text style facility is temporarily removed while alternatives are being considered. I would not expect the way things look now to be how they will look upon release.

Thank you. Yes, I understand. I've played around with several versions of the nightly build for fun.

I love the look of the MuseJazz music font combined with the JazzText font I already had, so I've created some charts by importing a completed score from v2.1 to the Nightly version, applying the MuseJazz style, then exporting to PDF. Sample attached FYI.

I wish the MuseJazz style was available in v2.1.

I believe that the plan is to make the Text Style feature part of the Inspector, so that all text features are available in one place.

It would probably work something like this:

  1. Change the formatting of one item of text in the Inspector
  2. Click a "Save as Style" button (also in the Inspector) and name the style.
  3. Select another piece of text and then choose the new style from a drop-down list (also in the Inspector).

However the feature hasn't been implemented yet.
