Midi Import Cut Off

• Jan 9, 2018 - 17:12

For some reason, whenever I am using Midi Import for note entry on MS, MS will cut off the connection to my MIDI. (My synthesizer.) And it turns off my syn. electronically. Restarting the syn. does not restore note entry from it. To resume working, I have to close the MS file and shut down MS completely and reopen to resume note entry. Very annoying and time=wasting. I checked under Preferences on the Enable Midi Import page, but did not see anywhere where it says you can set any sort of "timer" to cause MS to cut off the syn. Puzzled. What could be causing this?

I'm not aware of anything MuseScore is or even could possibly be doing to shut off a syntehsizer. What symptom are you seeing that leads you to believe this is what is happening - as opposed to, for instance, the instrument itself having an automatic power off setting?

How often does this occur...?

Check your wired connections:
With everything on and working, jiggle the synthesizer connectors, power, usb, etc. to see if a loose/faulty connection is the culprit.

Regards.

The USB outputs of the computers are automatically set to power off if not used for a certain period of time (each one individually).
If it is relevant: You should try and adjust the port you use all the time so that it will not cut the power.
