Ossia

Hi,
I have been needing an 'ossia' in a score I am creating for a while and have tried a few methods (such as creating an extra stave and making all of the unwanted bars invisible), but haven't had much luck. Could someone please tell me if there is a better way of doing this, rather than just using work-arounds? This would be much obliged.
