About 300ms input lag on Midi keyboard - makes it hard to play & enter music
Hi,
love the concept of the new midi input notation; think the work from Peter is really promising!
However, I do have a significant issue. Running a recent copy of Musescore [1] and using a cheap USB MIDI keyboard (Keystation Mini32) for entry.
With Musescore (clean start, factory settings, enable Midi and just play in a blank score without even note entry), I hear a significant delay. It's about one beat at 200bpm (find the rhythm where I play on the beat, but "one behind"). If my math is about right, that gives around a 300ms delay from tapping a key to I hear the audio.
In eg. Ableton Live (came with the keyboard) and some other apps, I can play the keyboard and get "playable latency" (to the extent I would not react to it at all).
This is not only problematic for live music entry, but also for playing the keyboard to find notes/music ideas when doing notation.
Anyone knows how I can debug/help improve this?
Best regards, and thanks for a fantastic music tool & platform!
/Henrik
