New instrument to add

• Apr 2, 2018 - 05:15

Am I using the guitar steel string instrument wrong, i am trying to get a steel guitar sound for a country song i am working on. Not quit figuring out how to get the right slide sound, any help would be very much welcome

MuseScore doesn't handle the slide sound of the steel guitar well, but you could try a bend from the Advanced Articulations and Ornaments palette. It's the symbol on the bottom line that says full on it. After you add it, you can right click and chose Bend Properties...

yes i tried the bends but it didn't sound anything like a steel but thanks for the advise, it might have worked if the glissando's were cleaner and smoother, as in not hearing every note between starting note to finishing note and for a computer program i am sure it is very difficult to clean it up

I had the idea of the bends because a lot of the slides on the steel guitar are short and those can be simulated using the bend tool. Unfortunately it only works for about 2 steps rather than the octave or so that would be nice for more realistic glissandi from instruments that can slide from one note to another. The good news for the future is that the glissando is being worked on so it might sound better in version 3 when it comes out.
