It is weird that there are only three orchestra templates, and yet there are so many different orchestral setups. I'll make a few more templates with common orchestral setups.
I do appreciate the effort to devise templates, but of course, we can't possibly account for every variation that exists - the list of template would become unmanageable and overwhelming to the user. I think it's more important to focus on a small handful of basic models from which the user can then customize.
However, I do think it would be wonderful to provide a repository, similar to the what we sort of do for plugins, where users can contribute and share templates of their own. Better would be for this to be truly integrated with the software, though.

I wholeheartedly agree. 40+ templates would be more trouble than benefit. But five or six would be perfectly acceptable. There are already small orchestra templates so I've made a medium orchestra template and I will make a large and an extra large orchestra template. That should be sufficient.
