Quarter tones and hand claps

• May 24, 2018 - 05:04

This is from an old book about African music. The second note needs to be raised 1/4 tone. Is that a bend? How do I apply it? I've read the handbook. Still all geek to me. :(

I also need a way to sound hand claps. I've worked my way through the drum set, but haven't found anything I thought would work. Do you have different solution? Or is there something in the drum set I missed?

Thanks!

For the 1/4 tone raised notes you can select them (ctrl+click selects several at a time) and in the tuning box in the inspector insert then number 50 (100 is 1/2 a step).

Hand clap is an unpitched percussion instrument, not part of the drumset instrument. You can search "hand" and you'll see hand bells and hand clap.

I found the tuner in the Inspector. Wow! Perfect! Thanks, Mike. :)

I also found Hand Clap in the Search Instruments bar. Didn't even know it was there! I always select from the menu. Something new every day around here. Love it! <3

Hand clap is activated below the voice now. But it doesn't sound like a hand clap. It has a woo-woo sound to it. Is there something else I need to adjust?

I looked at the synthesizer. It's all way over my head. I'll ask my son if he can help me. Not sure, but worth a try. Downloading sound files is also way over my head, [sigh]

I went to Mixer and tried all the options under Hand Clap Drumset. They all sound the same, or simply don't play at all. Is there a glitch in this particular file?

If I can't figure out how to get a hand clap, I will use wood blocks. Still gives the same percussive impression. Not my first choice, but doable if needed.

"Ah! Women where solo'ed...." LOL! I resemble that remark! ;)

This project is my first using percussion. I honestly thought notes were entered like the other instruments. Your contribution to my MuseScore education has reduced the steep learning curve to a gentle slope. Thank you, Jojo. <3
