D.S. with alternate volta ending on final repeat
Does a smart person know how to skip volta 2 on the second time around after a DS ?
This is what I want:
Bar 1Bar 1
Bar 2 Bar 3
Bar 2 Bar 4
Then DS with all repeats, but must skip bar 4 for ending in bar 5 eg:
Bar 1 Bar 1
Bar 2 Bar 3
Bar 2 Bar 5
I have tried coda's with not much luck, my brain has gone to mush thinking of alternatives.
Please have a look and post back amended fix if possible.
Big thank you for the brainy person who solves it : )
(The actual score is much bigger, which is why I do not want to scribe it in long form - I try to use DS and codas when possible to fit scores on two pages. This example is just the essence of what I need)

Using "D.S. al Coda" maybe?

Yes, I thought so too. But it does not quite work.
It seems as though the Coda over rides the second repeat option from the D.S. al Coda
Bar 1 Bar 1
Bar 2 Bar 3
Bar 5 ( missing Bar 2 )

The bar 3, by musical rule, can not be read, it is necessarily skipped by the D.S. because the first alternative is never replayed. On the other hand, bar 4 is obligatorily read again
You must rewrite bar 4 before the last bar and as told by Jojo use D.S. al Coda as below.

Hi Mire,
I'm struggling to get it working with suggested solution.
Are you able to upload the sample please ?

Oh, I think I understand why you said that. Under normal D.S. conditions, none of the repeats are played on the second round. This also means that only the last volta is played - hence bar 3 is skipped.. normally.
However I have enable the new repeat feature of the D.S. inspector element, which goes against normal musical rules. But it appears to not work when used with a coda.
btw, I am using the new "Play repeats" feature in the inspector element.
Just seems like the Coda is stopping this feature from working, unless there is a better way?

SOLVED!
I must say, you are very clever. It was the placement of the To Coda which made all the difference.
This is a very elegant solution, and is common pattern in folk music.
Your reward is some German Beer drinking music, using the solution you provided.
Thank you very much : )
