Flexible Pagination

I'm nearing the mid-point of a very large project that spans multiple files, and I'm wondering about my page numbering options for the final books. The conductor score itself runs to several hundred pages, and several of the individual instrument parts are quite long as well.

To that end, I have some questions:
Is it possible to have the page numbering for each part reflect the total of each movement?

For example, if a trumpet part is six pages long, could the page numbering show 1/6, 2/6, etc. (or the conductor, 1/42, 2/42...) This is fairly common in pit orchestras, and is very handy for rehearsal purposes.
Could Musescore do this automatically? I can't imagine the time it would take to tabulate each part manually.

Secondly, is it possible to run page numbering sequentially across files throughout the entire score? For example, if the second number in the show begins on page seven, can Musescore reflect that reality?
If the combined trumpet files add up to 80 pages, or the conductor 600, can this somehow be shown on the page?

This is also very common in published scores.

(I doubt that it helps, but my files are all numbered sequentially, (1-01, 1-02, etc.))

As for how this might all look, I've generally seen it with the "master" number centered at the bottom of the page, and the "movement" number at the top of the page or justified right at the bottom.

I've been in pits where books are sometimes missing pages, or pages are out of sequence, and it's a lot easier to fix if pages are fully numbered.

Thanks,
Tom

Yes to both. for the 1st use "$P/$n" in header/footer instead of "$p", for the 2nd for subsequent scores change the 1st page's offset for Layout/Page properties or use the album feature (for printing, or for joining)

Thanks Jojo! I love it when answers are sure that my questions.

It might be a little tedious to have to select the starting page number for each part for each movement of the score, but that's a good start. (Each instrument will have differing links of parts throughout the overall score.) There is probably no way around this.

Cheers,
Tom

Thanks again.
600 pages is optimistic. It looks like I'm headed over that now, (Yikes!) but I probably won't print the full score. (Broadway pits seldom use a full score.) I'm assembling Lead sheets/condensed scores as I go. My goal is to have a conductor's book at under 200 pages. Fingers crossed. I'm also considering sending out the printing to be done at a larger orchestral format to cut down on the number of pages.

Am I correct in thinking that if I create an album, all parts must be in the same order, and tacet instruments have to be included? (Seems to me I read that somewhere on the forums) That may be a bit of a challenge, as some of the pieces are scored for fuller orchestration than others. (This is something I did not even consider when the project began.)

Tom

[EDIT] I just tried your first suggestion on one of my larger scores, and it looks great. Thanks so much!
