Edited Instrument Ranges Not Transferring to Part (?)

• Jun 29, 2018 - 10:13

I used MuseScore’s recommended range for a Euphonium (tenor tuba).

Here:

…I found subsequently that MuseScore’s range for the common Euphonium is not correct for the compensating or non-compensating Euphonium.

When I corrected this in the masterscore, I found that notes in my Euphonium part were still neverthe less appearing in red, as if they were unplayable.

I found I had to edit the range settings a second time in the Part’s ‘Staff Properties’, to make the playable notes appear correctly (i.e in blank, not in red).

Why do edits to instrument ranges in the Staff Properties of the masterscore, not affect the presentation notes in the linked part? Am I doing something wrong?

This should be a bug, this is content and as such should propagate between part and master score. Doesn't seem to have been put into the issue tracker already (I can't find it), so go ahead and put it there. Unless it is fixed in the lates development build from master already...

Currently. essentially no staff properties are linked. This is a real problem for transposition in particular. See #62416: Changes to staff transposition (and other properties) not reflected in linked parts. Meanwhile, workaround is to make the change manually. As mentioned elsewhere, eventually it would be nice to link more properties by default and give a way to break the link on demand. Right now, we're pretty conservative, and don't link things if there is "chance" people might want them independent.
