Can't delete crescendo

• Jul 2, 2018 - 04:49

So I'm working on a piece, and I notice a random crescendo on the edge of the page. It seemed to be causing problems, so I went over and clicked it. It is un-interactable. I've tried clicking on it, clicking on nearby notes, refreshing, I can't get it to go away. When I press play, it partway disappears. Do any of you know what it is, and more importantly, how to fix it?

As Shoichi said, try looking for it in continuous view and press shift+r return it to where it belongs. If you can't find that particular crescendo you will need to resort to selecting the staff with the crescendo and then right click any crescendo and chose Select>All similar items in selection and press ctrl+r to return all crescendos to their starting position.

To prevent this in the future always use shift+arrows to extend or shorten crescendos, especially when they cross a page boundary. The easiest way to do it is to enter the crescendo on the correct notes to begin with, but I realize this is not always possible. Once the crescendo is under the last note it applies to, you can use ctrl+arrow or drag the end to fine tune it.

All info about crescendos apply to decrescendos as well. Select all similar items will select both crescendos and decrescendos.

I'm not sure that's the only problem. When people drag the ends of the hairpins rather than using shift+arrow to adjust the length of the hairpin so it crosses a page break, the hairpin will move when the file is closed and reopened. I have to leave soon so I don't have time to research it completely right now. Later to day I will create a score with instructions to make it happen or find the correct bug report if it exists.
