I was transferring a rather large document with the cut and paste option and it suddenly had no memory of cutting a rather HUGE song and so I lost it.
I would like to know why.
It's better to ask for help in the Support forum, and to attach your score and steps to reproduce the problem you are experiencing. As it is, we can only guess. But to make some guesses:
First, cutting would never lose anything unless you saved the file after the cut. So unless you made that mistake, your original file is safe and sound, which should allow you to try again.
It isn't clear what you mean by "transferring" a document here - were you trying to make a copy of a score by copying and pasting from one file into another? Why not simply do "save as"?
That said, if you accidentally hit Delete intead of Cut, you would indeed temporarily lose the music you had deleted. A simple Undo gets it back though. Or reload that score.
