After extending barline through multiple staves, if change instrument visibility, barlines are restored not extended and cannot extend automatically anymore.
Here the description of the strange behavior:
- open one score containing a multi-staff system (for example 4 staves)
- select (double-click) one of the barlines of the top most staff
- extend it to the lower staff
- click somewhere else so that all the barlines are connected between the staves (as expected).
- go to Edit->Instruments and change visibility of the lower staff (as example, make it invisible)
- then, again, go to Edit->Instruments and change visibility of same lower staff (put it as visible again)
- Unexpected behavior: the cross staff barlines is gone, no more extended to the last staff (of which I switched off an on visibility)
- Unexpected behavior: trying now to connect barlines to the lower staff, no more work automatically connecting all bars, but only the single bar at the time.
After extending barline through multiple staves, if change instrument visibility, barlines are restored not extended and cannot extend automatically anymore.

This is exactly the same issue I am having :(
In 3.0 beta this works as expected, at least for new scores. Scores imported from 2.x may continue to have issues like this. See #274437: [2.X->3.0] Incorrect edit barlines markers behavior
