Change Stem Direction on Only One Note Where Two are Vertically Connected by a Stem
I am writing scales for piano with one line each for the left hand and right hand, one octave apart. There are cases where notes for both hands are in the same clef. They are automatically connected by one stem. I would like to change it so the stems for the left hand all go down and the stems for the right hand all go up. I have not found a way to change the direction of the stem for one note only while not changing the other on the same stem. How do I do that?

They will have to be separate voices.
You can check voices in the handbook if you are unfamiliar with what I am referring to.

That was exactly it. Thanks! (Is this Carlos?)
In the case of a piano cross-staff notation might be what you are looking for see: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/cross-staff-notation

Thanks for replying. It turns out I needed to learn about voicing.
I'm having trouble picturing what you mean or how you might be trying to do this, so if the above suggestiosn don't help, please attach your score so we can understand and assist better.
