Late entrance for added instruments (removing empty bars for single instrument)

I'm attempting to make a piano vocal score which contains a long introduction. How do I make the voice line appear later in the piece? Right now it just displays empty bars and is taking up a lot of space and ink. I would prefer the voice line only come in on the system in which it first appears.
