Hi,
tried to import a MIDI file which was created by Finale 2012.
Causes grafical issues and tempo issues.
First part (4 measures) of this very simple sheet music is played in 120 bpm, the rest in original tempo of 96 bpm...... ;-((

Status open issues ⇒ by design

Try to avoid MIDI for score exchange, use MusicXML instead. Or, much better, get your friend to use MuseScore and exchange MuseScore files.

MIDI is just not capable getting across most aspects of score notation, nothing but the instrument to use, the pitch, a duration, velocity (per note, not dynamics or hairpins).
Closing this as 'by design'

Also upgrade to at least MuseScore 2.3.2 (you reported this iss against 2.1) if not even MuseScore 3.0
