Tied notes inside a triplets

• Jan 21, 2019 - 22:51

Hi, Gang!!!

I wonder if there is a rule to this:

https://musescore.org/sites/musescore.org/files/2019-01/Tied%20Inside%2…

Is there some way to put something different to the tied two eighth notes inside those triplets??? How???

BTW: It sould be more easy if MuseScore could manage different time signatures to some instruments, at the same time. In this case, we can use the standard 3/4 to the voice instruments, and 9/8 to the rhythm instruments, at the same time, "in-synchronize". But...

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

MuseScore poorly manages multiple time signatures at once. See https://musescore.org/en/node/254556.

If you create a tuplet then add notes, it's easier to enter the tuplet and to see how to enter other rhythms.

To enter a triplet of 3 8th notes duration while in note entry mode:

  • press 5 (total duration is one beat)
  • press ctrl+3 (a tuplet of 3 8th rests is created)
  • enter a duration of less than the 3 8th notes (3 8th notes of course = a dotted 1/4 note) in the tuplet - 5 would work in your example - followed by the note.

You can make it 8th 16th 16th 8th or any other combination that totals a dotted 1/4 note. It's not unusual for strings to have a dotted 1/4 note with a 3 above it (to indicate the triplet) and a tremolo bar on it to indicate 3 eighth notes are played on each beat rather than 2.
