Yes, this seems to be a new bug (although I thought it might be because of my new model Mac). This can be gotten around by going to "Preferences" (ctrl-comma) I/O and clicking "Reset Audio and Midi Devices" when you plug or unplug, but this is suboptimal and didn't used to be so,
