Create a score in version 3 with either acciaccaturas or apoogiaturas on notes using a snare drum. Notice that when you press play, the grace notes do not play.

Are you sure? I think it might just be that it's too fast to hear, depending on context. But try making the grace note a crash symbol and the main note something else, I hear it pretty clearly :-). But sure, still worth improving.
I slowed the tempo down and it is so fast I missed it before. It definitely needs work.
Probably the reason it's more problematic for percussion is that the grace note is often the same pitch. That could be worth special cadig even for pitched staves - you can't repeat the same pitch as fast on piano or most instruments either.
