Whole note input

• Feb 15, 2019 - 20:28

This was a problem with V2 as well: entering whole note values at beginning of measure, e.g. pressing '7' on keypad. When entering the pitch the whole note, which is indicated on tool bar, reverts to quarter note value. Annoying to constantly be on alert to catch when the first note is incorrect.

This came up just yesterday. If you press a button to keep the duration of the item selected (so 6 in 2/4 time or 7 in 4/4 time) then it is ignored when you start entering notes and you get the default result of a quarter note.

As far as I know, there is no problem when entering notes correctly: if you first enter note input mode, then select your duration. This works flawlessly in both 2.x and 3.0 in my experience. Only if you make the mistake of trying to press a duration button before entering note input button do you see the value revert to quarter note.

This behavior only happens on whole notes though, on any other type of input you can just start inputting notes by selecting a duration. In all other cases except this one, the correct duration will be given to the inputted note, and this behaviour should be identical when entering a whole note.

I just updated my version; this behavior is still a problem, only with whole note input and not consistent, thus making it hard to look at my score without constantly referring back to the screen. Guess I need to choose music with fewer whole notes!

It's still not clear what problem you are having. My best guess remains that you are making the common mistake of selecting the duration before entering note input mode. You have to enter note input mode first. If you do that all should work perfectly. If you are encountering some special case where things aren't working as expected, please attach your score and give precise step by step instructions to reproduce the problem, then we can understand and assist better.
