PDF exported form Linux is not readable in Adobe reader or preview on MacOS

I work on Linux and since Musescore 3 I get complaints from people on MacOS that they can not read the PDF's I export from Musescore.
On Linux I don't have a problem opening them, all programs work (Okular for example).
I can also open the PDF on my Android phone, with the mobile version of Adobe reader.

On Mac it seems to give problems though. Garbled fonts or empty pdf's.
