Instrument Assignments Get Lost

2. Note that all instruments play as piano, in spite of having different assignments.

I can make the assignment work again by changing them in the mixer to something else -- anything else -- and then changing back to the desired instruments. I can then save the resulting file; however, when I quit Musescore, the program crashes; and upon re-opening the score, the instrument assignments are lost again.
