Pauses after notes
When I place a note down, it automatically puts a pause after it. Is there anyway to disable it?

No it doesn't put a pause (rest). When you enter a note, the length of the rest for for the measure is reduced to show you how many more beats there are in the measure.
The idea being, the measure always contains the right number of beats, which surely you want. So if you don't intend to enter more notes in the measure, the rests are correct. if you do intend to add more notes, just do so. The rests will go disappear as surely as they appeared, and whenever you sto entering notes, you can be assured your measures will have the right number of beats.
