Shift + Click does not select notes in chord consistently in tablature

1. Select a note in a chord
2. Shift + Left Click on the highlighted note.

I'm attempting to select the whole chord for copying/pasting purposes, and it works about 50% of the time. The main reason for justifying this rather than simply shift + left click on a chord is when I have a note selected in a different chord and I don't want to copy from that chord to the chord I'm at. I could try to click off the staff to deselect that note but it doesn't work sometimes because instead it thinks I'm clicking and dragging so it shifts the view.
