Key Signatures

Greetings, Hive Mind,

I am doing an arrangement of Mahler 5. The key is C-Sharp Minor. I want to display the Bb parts in E-Flat Minor instead of D-Sharp Minor, but it won't let me. Whenever I do, it converts it to the major key signature. For example, D-Sharp Minor is six sharps. I drag the six-flats key signature over it, and it gives me four flats because it thinks that it is F-Sharp Major and is converting to A-Flat Major for the Bb instruments. MuseScore 1.3 did this EASILY. Why is this so screwed up? Or, am I screwed up and missing something to click? Please advise.

Many if not most players of Bb and Eb instruments prefer sharps to flats, since they are accustomed to seeing more of them. So whatever change happens from 1.3 to 2. many years ago, it's better for manyt cases. But not indeed all. Are you sure you followed the steps in that howto fully? It's tricky, but it works for me. First transpose to key guaranteed to result in flats, then transpose again by interval, and it will preserve that spelling.

I think from your described you are making the mistake of actually changing the key signature. That's not part of the process. It's all in the Transpose dialog.
