Change to mixer setting does not mark score as edited

I changed the Pan setting in the Mixer for instruments in one of my scores, and noticed that doing this does not mark the score as edited. Hence, unless I explicitly save the score, the changes to the Mixer settings are lost when I close the score. Is this a bug, or by design? It might be good to have a score marked as edited when changes to mixer values such as pan are made so the changes can be persistent.
