Currently when you save a score online and the score uses the default sound font, there is no option to upload a custom audio. In the future, the default soundfont will no doubt change and the sound played back on MuseScore.com will change as a result. People who have gone through a lot of work to make the score sound a certain way will have lost all their work on MuseScore.com.

If this is what you meant, then, yes.
Workaround: use a very similar GM add soundfont.
Changing the sound font is what we don't want to do.
Use the existing default soundfont, but select it explicitly.
Changing the soundfont is the workaround, even if you don't like it.
Eliminating the need for the work around is what is being suggested. There is no workaround for doing away with the workaround.
Again: this is the workaround until such an option is made available
