When I click the playback button for musescore, it will occasionally play the first split-second of the bar and then stop. And then when I have it start from the beginning it will sometimes hop to some random spot in the song. This is not reproducible, because of the entropy of the situation.

Which version of MuseScore and what Operating system? Are you using continuous view?
Is this genuinely V3.1.0, released yesterday?
