Freezes when trying to add an instrument

• Jun 2, 2019 - 13:32

Hi,
I just installed an upgrade to Muse Score 3, and since doing this the program freezes whenever I try to edit the instruments. How to I either fix this or go back to a stable release?
thanks,
BD

Hi-

Thanks very much. The steps are:

  1. Open MuseScore
  2. In the dialog box, select Create New Score...
  3. Give it a title and composer name, Next
  4. Select Choose Instruments, Next
  5. In the drop-down menu, select Pop/Rock, then Strings (plucked), Mandolin, Add, Next
  6. Key of C, Check the Tempo box, Next
  7. 4/4, Pickup measure with one beat, Finish
  8. In the score, select the Edit menu/Instruments

The program is now unresponsive and the only way to quite is through Task Manager. I'm running Window 10 Enterprise, v. 1809, on a Dell XPS 15 laptop.

Thanks again-
Bruce

I don't have any problems when I follow those steps. Are you seeing the Edit/ Instruments dialog but the unable to click anything in it? Or can click in the dialog but unable to hit OK? Or just not seeing the dialog? If the latter, chances are good you accidentally dragged it offscreen, in which case you might see it along the border. Does hitting Esc return control? If so that pretty much proves the dialog is there but you just aren't seeing it. Help / Revert to Factory Settings will put things back as they should be.
