Is it possible to sync preferences between multiple installations?

• Jul 4, 2019 - 11:17

I use MS on two different pcs (both Windows 10). My network has a NAS that allows me to maintain areas with identical folders on the NAS and one or both of my PCs. I hope that I can use this to synchronise the MS preferences on the two machines. Hence the following questions:

  1. Is there a file or set of files that holds the current preferences? I couldn't find this mentioned in the Handbook.
  2. If so, what is it's default location with Windows 10 OS?
  3. Can this default location be changed? (Not a big deal but it would me more convenient to move the file(s) to the existing folders that are synced to the NAS and to both machines rather than having to set up separate synced folder pairings for the MS preference file location)?

  1. Yes there is. Actually 2 locations, and they are mentioned in the handbook, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings
  2. See above, in particular the advanced part under https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings#instruction…
  3. At least partly, one of the 2 locations (not sure which though, I assume that containing the MuseScore3.ini file), using the -c command line option, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/command-line-options
