Win 7/10. MS 3.3 (official)

There has been a change which affects users who want to play instruments from the virtual piano or an external MIDI keyboard:

  1. Open the attached score in MS 2.3.2. Don't press the playback button or click on any notes (important).
  2. Diplay the Piano, say.
  3. Click on a blank area of a measure in the timpani staff. Now click on the virtual piano keys.
  4. Repeat step 3 for each staff. In each case, you hear the instrument associated with that staff.
  5. Now do exactly the same with MS 3.2.3.

Expected result: Same behaviour as in MS 2.3.2.
Actual result: Only the instrument in the first staff (Timpani) responds. In order to play any of the other instruments (as in step 3 above) you first have to "activate" the staff by clicking on a note.

Is it possible to restore the 2.x behaviour?

Title Manual playback of instruments: regression Unable to play a staff instrument live from MIDI keyboard or on-screen piano

Create a classical score in the New score wizard, and, in normal mode, click on the various staves and try to play the instruments from a MIDI keyboard or the on-screen piano. In 2.x you could play all the instruments in this way. But In MS3 this facility has been lost and only the top staff plays back—in order to unlock this faculty in a lower staff you have to add notes first.

This was a useful feature of MS 2.x. but lost in MS3.
