When using the program, if the screen times out at any point during the session and goes to the screensaver, the sound will no longer work after moving the mouse and resuming work. Even upon closing the program and reopening it, the sound will not work within the software. The computer has to be completely restarted in order to continue using the program.

Sounds like some sort of driver conflict or something - this certainly shouldn't happen and doesn't seem to for others. It will be difficult to resolve this from our end, you might have to do some more detective work on yours. But you can start by telling us as much as possible about your OS, drivers, and audio hardware.
I seem to recall something similar happening on Macs in version 2.something. What version and operating system do you have?
