Bug in arpeggios extended across grand staff in piano scores

• Jul 21, 2019 - 09:17

Hi, I came across a bug when drawing arpeggios that extend between hands in the grand staff. I took this short screen capture vid to illustrate...

https://youtu.be/BSGARGgYudI

How to reproduce:

In a piano score...
1) notate a chord that is played across both hands in both staves and meant to be played in broken/arpeggio fashion
2) draw an arpeggio symbol connecting all notes played in the chord
3) repeat steps 1 & 2 above using different notes to notate a second chord with an arpeggio symbol applied
4) there is seemingly about a 50-50 chance (depending on positioning of the notes involved?) that this will distort the grand staff layout, inserting unnecessary extra space between the two staves
5) undo the action
6) undo removes the second arpeggio symbol that was just created, but it does not revert the staff back to the previous layout (i.e. the distortion of the added spacing remains), and undo also distorts the first arpeggio symbol that had previously appeared correctly on the staff... it is not possible to get back to the correctly placed first arpeggio symbol via undo; it must be drawn in manually again after distortion occurs

At 0:30 in this video, I hit undo 3 times then redo 3 times to illustrate how the distorted spacing remains in the grand staff throughout a few steps of undo & redo commands.

Thought you might like to know about this in case it hadn't been discovered before. If there's a fix for it, please let me know. In the meantime, I will probably fall back on drawing two separate arpeggios in these scenarios, one in each hand.

Thanks
Edward

Just a suggestion (not a solution): Before the arpeggios insert a 'Staff spacer fixed down' spacer from the palette.
