Normally, with melodic instruments, rhythm input mode causes the cursor to move forward automatically after entering a note value using a number shortcut without the pitch being specified. With a non-melodic percussion staff (e.g., single line), the cursor remains still, does not proceed, whether one is following a note or rest. In other-words, automatic cursor forwarding in rhythm mode doesn't work with non-melodic percussion staffs. It seems to function the same as the default step-time mode.

Often when scoring percussion instrument I want to enter the rhythm first using Rhythm Mode and then "re-pitch" the note to the desired instrument in the drumset using Repitch mode, following the Rhythm than Repitch sequence similar to scoring melodic instruments. Currently, in the Musescore 3, including Release Candidate 3, I cannot do that.

I cannot reproduce in 3.5 Beta. If you can, please attach the specific score you are having trouble with and give us precise steps to reproduce (which measure & staff, etc).

As mentioned, I was unable to reproduce the problem, but maybe that's because I was doing something wrong. Please attach a specific score and precise steps to follow so we can investigate.

Actually, I do now have a pretty good idea of what happened. Did you have the drumset staff selected at the moment you switched to rhythm mode? This indeed doesn't work, you need to be on another staff. That's a bug that still exists in the 3.5 Beta but is fixed in the nightly builds and in the release candidate that will become available shortly. See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/6232

We can probably close this, but I'll await confirmation.
