How can I notate And hear(in playback) 'palm muted' guitar mid-measure? Please help

• Nov 17, 2019 - 23:16

I've tried for several hours daily trying to figure it out and using google/youtube and no one seem to know how to get this playback to work with palm muting.

It should be very possible because there is a mixer preset 'palm mute' here

I'm using Musescore version 3.3.2

Mike you said: Use the staff text of your choice where you want the palm must to start (you can even make it invisible), right click the text, choose Staff text properties and change the channel to the correct sound

I right clicked, chose staff part/ property, and clicked instrument sound and there is no palm mute, I looked through all available sounds and there is no palm mute in there. I also tried the word "mute" that is not in there either. There is not staff text property on the version I am using, it says staff part/ property.

Hopefully the answer to the other questions you asked elsewhere cover this, but for the record - Staff/Part Properties is what you see if you right-click a staff. That's the change the ianstrument used, like from guitar to mandolin or whatever. But just to to change sound, you don't use this at all. To change the sound used for this staff throughout the score, use the Mixer. To change from standard to palm mute mid-score, you need to add a staff text (e.g., Ctrl+T) and then right-click that. Then you'll see Staff Text Properties, where you can select which voices you want the change to apply to (probably all but not necessarily) and which sound you want to change to.
