I have tried several times to update the software. The download is only 110 MB, but it starts downloading excruciatingly slow and eventually gets to "Update Error!".
It must be something with your download server. I can download other software just fine. Even ones a with a lot larger file size.
Since I cannot update it, I don't know what version it is trying to update to. My current version is 3.2.3.7635

You can donwload directly from the download page and then install that
It'd be 3.3.2 (shortly 3.3.3)

Download from the popup window in MuseScore is slow, this has been reported many many times.
Maybe it's time to find out why.
Really? Where?
I see https://musescore.org/en/node/296159, but that's a dicect upload and for 3.3 RC2

Sorry, maybe not on this site but in Chinese users' group chat xD
The "Great Wall" maybe, the Chinese government firewall?

We refer to the Great Wall as the historical relics dated from Zhou Dynasty, not that firewall.
But directly download from musescore.org is very fast. I don't know but does the popup window use GitHub link rather than musescore.org link to download? Downloading anything from GitHub is considerably slow.
We're indeed using GitHub for those downloads IIRC, and for both, the update and on musescore.org, because it is faster that OSUOSL (And yes, I know what the Great Wall is ;-))

It's not easy to keep track of all those abbreviations ;-) BTW (I know that), AFAIK (I can guess that), FYI (have to think hard), FWIW (completely no idea), IIRC (what?), ...
I see that the direct link on the download page is https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/musescore/v3.3.2/MuseScore-3.3.2-x86_64.msi. I did remember it used GitHub the first time I looked at it, but it has probably been changed.
If I Remember Correctly.

I downloaded it directly from the Musescore website as you suggested instead of the update popup. It was still very slow, but at least it didn't fail. I was able to update the software.
Thanks for the suggestion.

My download speed from musescore.org is 4MB-9MB/s, which is pretty fast and the download can finish in seconds.

You must be connecting to a different server form wherever you live. Extremely slow here. I have a 12 MB connection but it took about 15 minutes to download the update file.
Everything else from other sources download super fast. Even much larger files.
