Undocumented "Insert" behavior in 3.3.3

MS 3.3.3 / Win 10

  1. Enter a 3/4 (say) measure like the one below:

  2. After entering the dotted quarter note, move the cursor back one step so that it highlights the same note.
  3. Change duration to an eighth note (say) and enter a few notes.
    Result: The program enters a kind of insert mode, pushing the dotted quarter forward. At the same time the duration of the same note is adjusted so that it does not exceed that of the measure.

This behaviour, AFAIK, was not the case in previous updates of MS3.

Status active ⇒ by design

The same thing happens in version 2.3.2. It's not an insert mode, it's simple note entry. If you enter a shorter note on a longer note, the longer note gets the front end truncated and what's left over is displayed.
