MuseScore generated .mxl format - MuseScore 3

• Nov 30, 2019 - 11:12

I have been having a problem with using MuseScore .mxl files. When I load them into the Newzik app it loses the layout formatting and the colour of the chord symbols. I have already send information to Newzik who are investigating this.

Today by accident I opened one of the .mxl file in MuseScore3 and found the system text and rehearsal marks had lost their position formatting and the chord symbol text colour. I use these three features regularly in every piece I generate.

I have attached the .mscz, the associated PDF and .mxl. I have also attached the Pdf of the file when the .mxl was opened in MuseScore 3 showing the loss of formatting and colour.

I can verify the same thing happens on my system. MuseScore 3.3.3, W10.
Graphic export (PDF, png) is fine. Mscz, xml, musicxml, mid, export looses formatting.

MIDI has no way of representing such info, so no surprise that loses it. MusicXML in theory has ways of doing it, but the realities are that the interpretation of fixed offset likely won't make sense when applied by a different program with different default layout, so we deliberately don't bother trying. It's not inconceivable that some day we'd provide an option to export what we can, but I still wouldn't be expecting the results to look that much like how they started.
