Vocal vowels

Someone in the sound font forum has developed vocal vowel sounds.
I notice that strings can switch to pizz by selecting it from the palette. This works because of channels in the mixer. Is it possible to set something like this up for vocal vowels? Or does it have to to be written into the software? I don't care what the score looks like, as this would be just for playback.
