newbie recovering from an error

• Feb 1, 2020 - 00:30

Absolute beginner at 71. When I add notes and rests I sometimes discover that an earlier note is longer or shorter. I can't seem to remove a quarter rest for example if there are other notes or rests beyond it. My solution is to delete the later correct section to the clipboard and then correct the error, for example replace a quarter rest with two eighth rests and then past the section back in at the second of those eighth rests.
I know it would be better to not make the mistake. Is there a better solution should I continue in my errors?

Thank you.

Paul

Yes. one way this can happen is if you exit note input mode to select an earlier note to begin playback. After playback, that earlier note is still selected. If you don't enter note input mode before selecting an note duration, the note you started playback from becomes the duration you selected. If you notice this soon enough. use "UNDO". Either the keyboard shortct, or the button.

Thanks for the help. I also reviewed some of the lessons and realize that editing 'replaces' rather than 'inserts'.
I think this thread is complete. Thanks again.
