ornament signs in tab

Thinking about using this software. I am using a different program that I have tweaked so that I can use a wide number of ornamental signs. Does MuseScore allow for creating or using existing ornamental signs? This is an important question to me. I am editing 17th century viola da gamba tab. I have lost count of how many ornamental signs I have had to create. Every manuscript seems to have it's own unique ornamental sign. Some pieces of music have as many as 10 different ornamental signs. I create the sign in Photoshop and import the sign into Finale with very mixed results.

You can add images/graphics to a score, even add them to a palette for easy reuse. But MuseScore also contains an extremely extensive list of built-in symbols courtesy of the Bravura font from Steinberg, you may find much of what you want already present.

I need to be able to draw diagonal lines, create or use existing triangle made up of three dots, square made up of 4 dots, a relish sign (series of many dots), and whatever a 17th century scribe decided to create. So, you can see that I need great flexibility in creating or using existing ornaments. Thus, my question, how easy is it to create complex ornament signs in MuseScore? Thanks for the information provided so far. It is helpful.

Lines can be drawn at any length and angle, triangle and other symbols exist in Bravura. If it appears in much published music, there’s a good chance Bravura has it - the font is quite extensive. It if it’s truly a one-off, then as mentioned, just import the graphic - that’s as easy as drag & drop.

If you attach some sample, we can show you exactly where to find them if they exist.
