length & on time changes in piano roll do not appear in score

Change in pitch in Piano roll does show in score, length & on time changes in piano roll do not appear in score.
Why? What am I missing here?
Thank you!

Duration changes in the piano roll are meant for fine-tuning things to give more of a human feel, not for changing quarter notes into half notes or whatever. You don't need to mess with the piano roll editor for that, just make the change directly on the score, select the note(s), select the new duration.

Thank you much to both of you for your responses. I am new to Music score, but I very much like the Community concept.

I have another question; how do you make elements of the score disappear. For example, if you are making a lead sheet and you have a single line staff that contains just rhythm hits, it’s nice to have slashes for the rest of The Measure rather than rests. Players might take it literally. They are to play through and then play the hits. How do you make those rests disappear?

The simplest way is to select an element and press Del.
Results will vary depending on the nature of the element. For example, deleting a grace note will completely remove it, whereas deleting a quarter note will turn it into a rest.

Another way, after selecting the element, is to toggle visibility by pressing the letter V (or unchecking the "Visible" box in the Inspector).
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/inspector#element

The nature of the score element and the desired result will determine the best method to use. Please attach a specific example (or a more detailed explanation) of what you actually want to do.
Terms like "disappear" and "rhythm hits" need more context.

Regarding slash notation, see:

and:

It's easier to help if you attach an actual score, not a picture. Did you read the Handbook section mentioned above, on rhythmic slash notation? If you follow those steps, you get the standard result, which is what I think you probably want: slashes on the staff, kicks above. But the rests are needed in order for this to be read properly, otherwise it would look like a 19/16 measure instead of 4.4, since the kicks would appear to come after beat 4 is completed.

To make a rest invisible, yes, select it and press "V", but once again, this is almsot certainly not what you should do here if you want people to be able to read and understand music. Doing that will make it appear that there are too many beats in the measure. Instead you should do as we've suggested use Toggle Rhythmic Slash Notation, which will cause the hits to be displayed above the staff where they normally belong. And again, if you attach your score, we can assist better.

Hi-
Ok, I"ve attached the file. I have looked at the handbook.
You can see I'm having numerous issues here.
Mea 25 in the lower staff; I want to make the whole measure rhythm slashes. I just want to show the hits on beats 2a and 3e as in the above staff.
Mea 21: how do I get the slashes evenly distributed?
-end of score blowing instructions: they keep moving around. I have lost the end of them off the screen somewhere..

I've left this file incomplete.
I was going to need it but gigs are cancelled so I have time.
In the future I will put rhythms above the staff. I didnt know you could do that.
I have alot of tunes to do.
I enter notes [play it live] in Digital Performer as it has the best rhythmic detection, then export as xml to MS.
Clunky, but the best method I know of so far.
Thank you so much for the help!
-Best,
Peter

Now that you've read the relevant section of the Handbook, hopefully you see how to use the Rhythmic Slash Notation facility more consistently to improve what you have. I see places where it looks liek you tried to fake it manually, but the tool realy does a good job out of the box. Still, you will want to take care to enter the notes the way the documentation says. For instance, in measure 25 - or anywhere you want the hits notated in addition to the slashes, you need to put the hits in voice 3. Also you'll want to make those rests visible again, without them it's impossible to read the rhythm correctly (for example, the rest in 23 absolutely needs to be there or else the next note will appear to be right on 3). In the last measure, you simply need to use Fill With Slashes for the first three beats, Rhythmic Slash Notation for the last.

FWIW, measure 21, slashes shouldn't be even, then they wouldn't line up properly. It's important in a score that things line up. If/when you generate individual parts, the slashes will be evenly distributed because there won't be another staff for them to align with. But FWIW, you can simplify the notation in the top staff by respelling the B as Cb (click, press "J"), and also by simply using a key signature so you don't have so many accidentals.

BTW, generally you'll get better results simply entering notes directly into MuseScore - just typing them in, no need for real-time input. You'll almost always get better results faster. Kind of likw the difference between trying to write a novel by typing versus dictating to Siri.

thank you Mark for the detailed message.

-Measure 21. OK, I get it.

I am in fix-it mode with the score now because I did thing wrong from the start. So for example in Measure 25. I have converted the notes to Voice three. There are still slashers in Voice 2. How do I erase a specific Voice from a measure?

last measure; I moved the notes and rests to voice number three. I could not get rid of the existing slashes in voice 2, so I made them invisible. When I try to make beats 12 and three filled with slashes, it doesn’t work.

Should I just start all over again?

Yes, I am a good musician and a bad typist. And I try to keep all work as musical as possible. Which is why I enter in real time in Digital performer. It would take me forever to enter notes from a computer keyboard. I guess everyone is different.
thank you again!

I get that initial entry can go faster by playing in real time, but what I'm saying is, the number of things that need to be fixed in order to produced readable notation will usually be such that it's slower in the end. It's certainly possible to laboriously move notes between voices after the fact, correct settings in Inspector, correct durations, etc, but it's often faster just to type a measure correctly to begin with. And I think that's what you'll need to do for measure 25. As I said, the way to not have slashes on beat 3 or 4 is simply not to create them - select only the first two beats when running the fill command. nd then select only the last two when running toggle rhythmic slash notation command. Or whatever. So for this measyure, yes, best to delete it and enter it again.
