breath marks

I have an HP all in one that I have MuseScore on. In trying to put in breath marks when I go to drag, there is a little circle with a line thru it and then somehow I got a breath mark in the wrong place and I can't erase it - what do I do? On youtube I noticed when you're dragging that little circle is green....

I'm not familiar with dragging. I select the note where I want the mark to go. Then click the mark in the palette. select and delete if in the wrong place.
Unless you are trying to do this for a different purpose.

Dragging is indeed an inefficient way of doing things - simply clicking the note you want the break to appear after, then clicking the breath mark in the palette, is the better way to go. Same for all palette items. But drag & drop does work, the red circle is just telling you that you can't drop yet - not until you actually reach the note you want to attach the breath mark to. You don't drop things where you want them appear, you drop them onto the note you want them attached to.

To erase a breath mark or anything else, simply click it then press Delete.
