how to change an .m4a to a .mp3?

Frantic to do this. I am in a Linux Ubuntu environment and it successfully runs Musescore.

Check out Audacity. Open source that I believe runs on Linux. I'm sure there are plenty of other programs, but Audacity is very useful.
