I use shift + click and drag selection in my workflow. If "All" is checked in the Selection Filter, I am able to shift + click and drag and it works as expected, with a blue box created while dragging before the selection is made. However, if I check only one element in the Selection Filter and use shift + click and drag, it still creates the blue box while dragging, but nothing is selected once I release it.

This is not a graphical error, as I cannot then copy and paste what I selected into a new staff.

I suggest that when specific items are checked in the selection filter, shift + click and drag will create the blue box while dragging, and then select only those items when released.

(I am aware that Right Click > Select > All similar elements in range selection is an option, and I do use that.)

As far as I can tell, this has nothing to do with Shift+drag specific, but would potentially apply to all methods of range selection. The suggestion being that it should be possible to use the selection filter to create a selection that actually isn't a range at all, but just a list. In other words, it would contain no notes or rests, only the specific elements specified in the filter. The idea of finding a way to combine the selection filter with the ways of creating list selections does come up from time to time and is something being discussed in several other threads.
