No Sound with Virtual Playing Orchestra

• Jul 17, 2020 - 19:56

Hello,

Recently I got interested in trying out Virtual Playing Orchestra because I've heard really good things about it. As of now, I've gotten the SFZ files placed in my sound fonts folder, as well as the samples for them as specified in the sfz files. However, when actually using them in Musescore there is no sound from them. All of my VSCO Community Edition files work properly with zero issues, but for some reason, Virtual Playing Orchestra doesn't work at all. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

When I tried VPO, I downloaded three folders. Two scripts folders and one wave file folder. I chose the standard scripts folder. I copied the wave folder into the chosen scripts folder and copied that into the font folder in MuseScore. You might have to copy the content of the wave folder rather than the folder itself.
FWIW, I had problems with VPO and VSCO. Sometimes the wrong sound was loaded. String notes of a half note or longer tended to swell. Dynamics and hairpins didn't always work. The sounds themselves tended to be better, but MuseScore didn't always handle them very well.
